Meet The Botticellis, indie band of San Francisco
61The indie pop-surf-rock-folk band The Botticellis is based in San Francisco. The band members are: singer/guitarist Alexi Glickman, drummer/multi-instrumentalist Zack Ehrlich, guitarist/keyboardist Burton Li, singer/lyricist Blythe Foster, and bassist Ryan Browne. Past members are Ian Nansen, Ian Bjornstad and David Tranchina.
The Botticellis had released their first album, Old Home Movies under the label Antenna Farm Records in 2008. The album Old Home Movies had been produced with the help of Anton Patzner. On April 14, 2008, The Botticellis had celebrated the release of their CD at the Café du Nord in San Francisco among with the guest bands Papercuts and the Mantles.
The founders of The Botticellis are Zack Ehrlich and Alexi Glickman. Their musical adventure begins in their early ages: at kindergarten. Both were playing together Suzuki violin duets.
The word botticelli mean “little barrel”. Botticelli is a surf term that the founders started using as kids to describe their favorite California wave. Their music is calm, intelligent and inspiring. It’s the kind of music you can easily listen to over and over again, without being tired of it. The vibes are friendly and of good humour.
Seem like The Botticellis members live in a communal home by the ocean in San Francisco.
The band has its profile on MySpace. The Botticellis had been active on MySpace since 2004. Among their influences, we find the surf music of their 60s and the Beatles.
With the release of their first album Old Home Movies, The Botticellis mark a great debut. The Botticellis had received good critics from NPR, Dusted Magazine, Allmusic, Pitchfork, Daytrotter and Crawdaddy to just name a few.
The Botticellis had performed to the Mission Creek Festival (San Francisco).
The Botticellis upcoming projects
