Marnie Stern: an indie princess star and the sound of a shred guitar

The musician, songwriter, and guitarist Marnie Stern is born on March 18, 1976 in New York City. Marnie Stern play the electric guitar using a finger-tapping guitar technique name shredder. Marnie Stern developed her own technique by listening to progressive music. Her interest in music began in her early teens. Ever since, Marnie Stern tried to develop her own kind of technical skills.

Stern’s work and her background have a narrow focus. She grew up in New York, attended New York University, and now lives on the Upper East Side of New York. Among her musical influences, Marnie Stern named Hella, Lightning Bolt, Deerhoof, Erase Errata, Don Caballero, U.S. Maple, Royal Trux, Television, Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Talking Heads.

Until 2007, Marnie Stern worked as an administrative assistant for an ad agency. In 2007, the label Kill Rock Stars released her first album, In Advance of the Broken Arm. Kill Rock Stars is an USA Punk and Alternative Rock independent record label located in Washington. Kill Rock Stars was founded in 1991 by Slim Moon.

In 2007, The New York Times, cited Marnie Stern first album as being the year's most exciting rock 'n' roll album. The album had been well received by the critic. Marnie Stern now exclusively work as a musician. Following the release of her first album, In mid 2007, Marnie Stern toured in the U.S. and U.K.

In 2008, the virtuosic guitar player Marnie Stern using of her finger-tapping style of guitar was named one of Venus magazine's "Greatest Female Guitarists Of All Time". On the same year, Marnie Stern released her second album, title This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That.

The title is phrase borrowed from the British philosopher Alan Watts (1915-1973). Alan Watts is best known as an interpreter and popularizer of the Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Marnie Stern likes to study philosophy and critical thinking. Marnie Stern particularly like French philosopher René Descartes (1596-1650) for his ideas about language.

Marnie Stern remained with the label Kill Rock Stars for her second album, as well as for the third one. Marnie Stern third album is self title Marnie Stern and had been released in October 2010. Marnie Stern had self title her third album because she find this third album as being more personal and was proud of her songs.
