Biography of Marina Ann Hantzis

Born on March 14, 1988 in North Highlands, a small community located in the state of California, Marina Hantzis is an American actress, model and musician.

Marina Ann Hantzis always made music. When she was only 15 years old, she was inspired to play music by groups such as Throbbing Gristle and KMFDM and has been recording music ever since.

Following her high school years, Marina took took acting lessons for 10 years in Sacramento. She wanted to become an actress and love foreign films.

Marina Ann Hantzis made her filming debut in the experimental drama film The Girlfriend Experience (2009), produce by the Academy Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh. Her co-stars were Chris Santos, Timothy Davis, Peter Zizzo, Glenn Kenny, Vincent Dellacera, Kimberly Magness and Mark Jacobson. Marina Ann Hantzis also appeared in the horror film Smash Cut and the independent films Quit, The Girl from the Naked Eye, Life and I Melt With You, directed by Mark Pellington.

In 2011, Marina Ann Hantzis obtained a lead role in the Indonesian horror film Shrouded Corpse Bathing While Hip-Shaking of K2K Production.

In addition to her acting career, Marina Ann Hantzis is member of aTelecine, an industrial noise band. The founding members are Marina Ann Hantzis herself and Pablo St. Francis. aTelecine additional members are Anthony Djuan and Ian C. The aTelecine band label is Pendu Sound Recordings, a NYC-based independent record labe run by Todd Pendu. Among her influences, Marina Ann Hantzis named BlackFlag and Ice Cube. Of her experience with aTelecine, Marina said it’s a “cathartic experience”. In 2010, aTelecine produced the album '...And Six Dark Hours Pass' for Dais Records. Marina Ann Hantzis regularly performs as a DJ in the USA and Canada.

In January 2010, Marina Ann Hantzis appeared in an ad campaign for PETA, advocating animal birth control.

Marina Ann Hantzis is also involved in her community. In 2011, she participated in the "Read Across America" program at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, CA. Created by the National Education Association, "Read Across America" is an initiative that promote education. Marina declared: “Illiteracy contributes to poverty; encouraging children to pick up a book is fundamental”.
