Good-looking CEO Tony Lacavera announcing the launch of www.WirelessSoapbox.com

Based in Toronto, Globalive Communications Corporation is a telecommunications service provider. Globalive Communications Corporation owns several companies: Yak Communications, OneConnect, Canopco, Assemble Conferencing, InterClear, Lucky Call, Canada Payphone, Cohere Communications, and the newest one being Globalive Wireless. Currently, it’s been report that Orascom Telecom Holding, a major Egyptian company with operations in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, own 65% share in Globalive Wireless. In Canada, Globalive Communications Corporation is best known for Yak Communications.

Last year, Globalive had purchased wireless licenses from Industry Canada. The investment made for Globalive was of $442 million. This will allow Globalive to become Canadian most-wanted next Wireless carrier. In the country, prices for wireless services are quite the same from a carrier to another. With the launch to new wireless services in 5 major cities, Canadians hope Globalive will be able to offer new services at a competitive price.

Globalive will probably launch by 2010 a wireless service in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa. Unfortunately, the launch date could be compromised because of Industry Canada (who had been called telecom watchdog). Industry Canada had suddenly decided to review the ownership of Globalive Wireless, to make sure the company follow the federal regulations…

For now, the national cellphone network of Globalive excludes Quebec. But from my point of view, it shouldn’t be long before Globalive Wireless become available also in Quebec. Why? Because Globalive Wireless, from the start, understand the challenge that are facing Canadians: higher prices than in some country of the world, fewer services and low penetration. Is it difficult to believe, but according to Globalive Wireless, only 58% of Canadians have a wireless device. Wireless services in Canada are extremely expenses and Globalive Wireless has understood that.

We hope that Globalive Wireless will transform the Wireless Canadian market industry.
